We went to Banff, Canada in December of 2001 from Washington. We chose to go in December to see the Snow White beauty of Canadian Rockies. We took I-5 north from Washington and then Highway 1 from Kamloops, BC towards Banff. The sight on Highway 1 was breathtaking. Unfortunately there were long drives of 2 way traffic without any divider and that was the scary part for me. I am used to driving on 1 way road with divider. The scenery on highway 1 near Kamploop was quite different. The color of the mountain was muddy in color later it changed to snow capped mountain as we got close to Banff. We stayed at Holiday Inn in Kamloops. The hotel was not bad. There were fast food restaurant along the highway 1 but not too much like in the States.

We stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Hotel. The hotel is situated on the Lake. It's the only hotel on the lake. We paid a premium to stay in a room with a view of the lake. We paid around US 300 dollars per night for the million dollar view of the lake surrounded by Rockies. Come to think about it..it was a bargain!

My camera could not capture the magnificent beauty of Banff. So, here are some of the pictures from the Post Card
